Hotel of the Underworld Volume 3: Moonlight

WOOHOO!!! I finally finished translating and typesetting volume 3, and I can confirm that the best way to deter scanlators is for the author to use as much kanji as possible. My god.

Anyway, I still can't decide if the song the girl is playing on the piano is meant to be Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata or if it's Claude Debussy's Clair de Lune (Moonlight). The one thing I know for sure was that the end of this chapter was as high stakes as the obstacles in Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor hahaha.

Hotel of the Underworld Volume 2: The End of Summer

Happy Friday y'all!! Man I am super glad I was able to find and release Volume 2 of Hotel of the Underworld: The End of Summer! A lot of the Japanese sites that host the Hotel of the Underworld series skips over volume 2, and I just couldn't understand why. After a bit of internet stalking, I saw this pic on Twitter the author posted that confirmed for me what the cover for volume 2 was even supposed to look like. The author Kuroi Shiro has several similarly styled oneshots that are published around the web, so I wasn't 300% sure which story was meant to be volume 2 versus which was meant to be a oneshot.

I ended up finding out that the whole Hotel of the Underworld series is published uncensored on the author's Pixiv account, and after reading through volume 2 I figured the reason why those other sites were reluctant to host that particular volume was because of the mini scene on page 2 where the kids are bathing together. I didn't really want to run into upload issues either, so thankfully my friend Techsupportdog is a good artist and they were able to draw a towel over the little girl in an attempt to make this particular volume SFW.

Pretty legit right?

Hotel of the Underworld Volume 1: Acheron

OKAY SO AFTER GOING GHOST FOR 4 YEARS, I'M SUDDENLY BACK WITH A NEW PROJECT Y'ALL: Hotel of the Underworld by Kuroi Shiro.

The art for this series is insanely nice, and the stories themselves take you through a whole gamut of emotions even though they're really short. So far there are 4 volumes for this series, and all of the volumes are under 40 pages so it's a quickie.

I gotta be real though, my Japanese skills are so wack. Like I can do the translations, but I'm just slow AF because I'm stuck depending on a dictionary and a thesaurus. Definitely dropped the ball by not paying attention in class back when I was still in school. If we manage to finish the Scumbag Loser series before the summer is out, the next project we'll try to take on is Hanazawa Kengo's Tokkaten. It's been sitting on my shelf collecting dust for a while tbh, so hopefully we'll get around to scanlating it.

We originally planned to release Scumbag Loser Chapter 7 this Sunday (1/16), but my laptop is completely kaput. I sent it in to be repaired on Monday, so if we're lucky then I'll get it back in time for the next chapter's release. #sadlife
